Local judoka nab medals

Press Release

The local Borderland Judo Club continues to practice and expand!
The high-ranking judoka practised all summer for a black belt grading, which took place in Thunder Bay earlier this fall.
The results were very good for our club. Randy Ball and Gordon Witherspoon earned their first-degree black belt while chief instructor Chuck MacDonald earned his second-degree black belt.
The hard work of the students radiated as they won medals in almost all of the divisions in the Thunder Bay Judo Tournament held in late November.
They included:
•Jarred Galusha–silver (male U12 division);
•Amara Cox–gold (female U12);
•Mia Woolsey–silver (female U14 combined);
•Shelby Hunt–gold (female U12);
•Joaquin Woolsey–gold (U16);
•Liam Dent–bronze (U14);
•Jaden Woolsey–gold (U16) and bronze (U18); and
•Morgan Good-Thurber–bronze (U16) and silver (U16)
“We have a strong judo club here and will continue to strive for higher level competitions,” said MacDonald.
“We have great judo in this region and will continue to excel at the high level competitions,” he added.
