Jared Catholique-Bruyere’s quest for a spot on the Ontario judo team continues without a hitch.
The 14-year-old blue belt returned home with yet another gold medal–this time from the Rocky Mountain International competition in Calgary on May 5.
He dominated the 74-plus kg juvenile division with a 5-0 record. He had finished second there last year.
Tournament results will help Catholique-Bruyere earn points for a spot on the provincial team.
The Rocky Mountain title is just the start of his summer competitions, which will include the Junior Olympics judo championships in late June and the U.S. Judo Federation junior nationals in Monterey, Calif. in July.
