A pair of local squash players have dropped down to the “silver” group in the girls’ U15 division after the first day of competition at the Canadian Junior National Squash Championships in Calgary.
Anika Alexander opened play yesterday afternoon with a win over Laura Huck (Medicine Hat) in the first round of the “gold” group.
But she dropped her second-round contest to Shannon Tara (Calgary) last night.
Alexander will play her first “silver” group match tonight against Jamie Nelson (Ottawa).
Angel McCormack, meanwhile, dropped her opening-round “gold” match to Hannah Treleaven (Calgary) yesterday afternoon.
She was up against Gillian Chick (Calgary) in her first “silver” showdown this morning, with the winner facing Charlotte Copas (Toronto) this afternoon.
Play wraps up Sunday.
