Lisa Penner hopes it’s as easy as one, two, three–and if she can be finished in two, even better.
The Fort Frances resident will aim for her third-straight Northern Ontario senior women’s curling title starting tomorrow as the third for Kenora skip Peggy Taylor as they enjoy home-ice advantage in a best-of-three final against Pina Luomala of Geraldton.
Penner and Taylor, along with lead Tracy Stasiuk, have represented Northern Ontario at the last two national playdowns.
And now with new second Arlene Wilcox in tow, they’ll try to advance to the 2017 Everest Canadian seniors’ curling championships March 18-25 in Fredericton, N.B.
History is on the side of the Kenora rink as Taylor defeated Luomala in last year’s provincial final before going 2-7 and finishing in 13th place at the nationals.
The teams will open play tomorrow at 9 a.m., with Game 2 set for 2 p.m.
Game 3, if necessary, tentatively is scheduled for Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
That could change, however, if two tie-breakers are needed in the senior men’s championship, which also is going on this weekend.
