Local curlers fall short in Nipigon

There won’t be any local flavour at the provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts this year.
A trio of locally-connected curlers—each playing on different rinks—were unable to topple Krista McCarville’s crew from Fort William Curling Club at the NOCA provincial playdowns in Nipigon over the weekend.
Ashley Kallos’ Fort William rink, which included Jackie McCormick of Stratton at second, fell 7-1 to McCarville in Sunday’s final.
Kallos ended up with a 3-2 record overall.
Meanwhile, Tracy Horgan’s rink (Idylwylde), complete with Devlin native Jenna Enge, also finished 3-2 as they completed the tournament in the ‘C’ draw.
Lastly, Rhonda Skillen’s Port Arthur rink had Stratton’s Angela Lee at third.
They finished with a 2-3 record overall.
