Legion wins Midget tourney

A pair of Fort Frances teams squared off in the ‘A’ final of the Lake of the Woods Midget ‘A’ tournament in Kenora last weekend, with the Legion blanking the OPP 3-0.
Steve Pruys and Brandon Roden each had a goal and an assist to spark the Legion.
It was nice to see them win this season since some of the players may be in their last year, noted coach Bob Dobransky.
The Legion went 5-0 in the tournament, outscoring their opponents 25-5 in the process.
Pruys racked up 10 points in the tournament, including a hat trick in the team’s 6-2 win over the Forest Flyers—the eventual ‘C’ final winners.
The Legion had opened play with a 4-1 win against Ignace, then beat the Flyers. They met Canadian Tire Red in their third game and cruised to an 8-1 victory.
Fraser Gibson had two goals and an assist in that one.
In their final round-robin game, the Legion beat the North End Flames 4-1.
The Legion are trying to arrange one more weekend tournament before the end of their season.
