Leek takes checkered flag in modifieds

Peter Leek took the checkered flag in the modified feature race last Friday at the Emo Speedway, finishing as the top points driver on the night with 55.
Leek, who also finished second in the second heat, was followed in the feature by Rick Roche, Greg Ferris and Tom Jackson.
Roche leads the weekly points race in the modified division with 514 points–a sizable margin over Leek (425), Mark Davis (423), and Len Allen (417).
Ferris, who won the second heat, rounds out the top five drivers with 416 points. Jack Reed, with 381 points on the season, took top spot in the first heat ahead of Rod Angus and Scott Thompson.
In super stock action, Steve Boyum captured top spot in both the heat and feature race to finish the night with a perfect 55 points.
Boyum also sits first overall in the weekly points standings with 481 on the season. Ron Westover is second overall with 416 points, followed by Dean Wensloff (338) and Chad Jonson (291).
Meanwhile in the mini sprints, Kyle Ridlon won the four-car feature race ahead of Ken Perry, Dick VanDrunen and Robin Woolsey. Ridlon, who earlier placed fourth and second respectively in the two heat, sits third in the overall points standings with 316.
Woolsey sits atop the pack with 439 points, just ahead of Perry (417). Tim Skime (296) and VanDrunen (258) round out the top five drivers.
The street stocks also saw a light schedule last week in Emo, with only six cars competing in the heat and feature race.
Don Wilson crossed the finish line first in the feature, ahead of Doug Derendorf and Wes Morrisseau. Brian Lagergren, Richard Visser and Lucas Hafeman, who earlier took the checkered flag in the heat, rounded out the top five.
Wilson leads the weekly streets standings with 475 points, followed by Morrisseau (446), Derendorf (411), Visser (359), and Lagergren (270).
Regular action resumes this Friday at the Emo Speedway, with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first race at 7:30.
