The Fort Frances Leafs under-14 girls’ rep team lost a nail-biter 5-4 to Warroad on Saturday.
Warroad scored the winner with 40 ticks left in overtime, but the Leafs did well just to extend the game past regulation time.
The Leafs trailed 4-2 after two periods, but battled back to tie it with a pair of late goals.
Sha-Lynn Smith, Taylor Dixon, Alyssa Penner, and Shelby Rae netted singles to pace the Leafs’ attack, who were outshot 37-29 by Warroad.
The Leafs will return to Warroad this weekend for a tournament, opening play against Highland Park (Minneapolis) on Saturday morning.
