It was a good weekend for both Fort Frances teams and individual players.
While the Fort Frances Lakers were winning their third-straight SIJHL crown, Jordan Larson was putting his own stamp on the junior ‘A’ hockey post-season.
Larson netted the decisive tally for the Carleton Place Canadians in a 3-2 victory over the visiting Ottawa Jr. Senators in Game 7 of the CCHL final to give the Canadians their third-straight Bogart Cup.
It was a titanic turnaround in less than 24 hours for the Canadians, who were crushed 7-0 in Game 6 in Ottawa on Saturday.
Larson finished as the playoff scoring leader for Carleton Place, with 14 points in 16 games, after getting 52 points in 38 games during the regular season.
The Canadians next will be in Woodstock, N.B. from May 4-8 to try and win the Fred Page Cup for the third-straight season and advance to the RBC Cup national championship, where they lost to the Portage Terriers (MJHL) in the final last year.
Carleton Place will tangle with the Dieppe Commandos (MHL), the Longueil College Francais (QJHL), and the host Woodstock Slammers (MHL).
