Fort Frances native Jordan Larson will have another option to choose from for his hockey future after being selected in the 16th round (228th overall) of Tuesday’s USHL draft by the Des Moines Buccaneers.
Larson, who recently turned 17, is coming off a 69-point season with the Fort Frances Lakers, earning the SIJHL’s rookie-of-the-year award.
In addition to now being the property of the Buccaneers, which is where fellow Fort Frances forward Mitch Cain played for two seasons before joining the Bemidji State Beavers, Larson also was chosen in the 12th round of last year’s OHL priority selection by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
The Sioux Falls Stampede took 17-year-old forward Tony Calderone, who is committed to play at Princeton University in 2014, as the first overall pick in Tuesday’s draft.
