Landry tosses no-hitter

Pitcher J.J. Landry was in both the gas and heat business in Rainy River District Fastball League action on Tuesday night.
The Barwick pitcher dealt both to Manitou hitters—throwing a no-hitter as the Blue Knights stayed undefeated (4-0) with a 12-0 win.
Landry also helped his own cause offensively, smacking a home run. Mike Wilson went deep, as well.
Aaron Pitchenese was tagged with the loss.
In other action, the local Sight & Sound Wolves suffered their first loss of the season, dropping a narrow 5-4 decision to the Big Grassy Braves to fall to 1-1.
Sight & Sound’s Marcel Page walloped the only home run of the night, but Braves’ pitcher Travis Tom still got the win.
Bob Andy took the loss.
Meanwhile, the Sabaskong Cubs improved to 3-0 by edging the Big Grassy Lightning 3-2.
Sheldon Kelly got the win while Melvin Major was saddled with the loss.
Finally, Rainy River trounced Big Island 11-1 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Matt Ashworth and Kam Kuzyk went deep for the Royals in support of winning pitcher Murray Armstrong.
Rueben Gibbins was handed the loss.
There was no report from the game between Stratton and Northwest Bay on Tuesday night.
Action is slated to resume tonight with Sight & Sound hosting Manitou, Rainy River at the Big Grassy Lightning, Barwick visiting Stratton, Big Grassy Braves travelling to Big Island, and Sabaskong heading to Northwest Bay.
