The process to build what local hockey fans hope is the foundation for a third-straight SIJHL title will begin in less than a month.
The two-time defending champion Fort Frances Lakers announced yesterday their main training camp will run Aug. 27-29.
Times of the on-ice sessions will be revealed at a later date.
The squad also announced a pair of home-and-home exhibition match-ups.
The Lakers will face the Steinbach Pistons (MJHL) on Sept. 4 at the Ice For Kids Arena, with Steinbach hosting the finale Sept. 11.
The Pistons captured the MJHL title in 2013, then reached the league final this past season before falling to the eventual RBC Cup champion Portage Terriers.
The Lakers also will face SIJHL rival the Minnesota Iron Rangers in another two-game series.
Dates for that have yet to be finalized.
The two teams met in the Salonen Cup final two seasons ago, with the Lakers prevailing in a thrilling seven-game series.
