The Fort Frances Lakers continue to build its roster for the 2011/12 SIJHL season, re-signing forward Ryan Wildman earlier this week.
A native of South Porcupine, Wildman joined the Lakers last season after playing for the Timmins Majors ‘AAA’ program.
He finished his rookie campaign with 12 goals and 21 assists in 54 games.
Wildman also shared the team’s rookie-of-the-year award with goalie Tyler Ampe.
“He is a very smart player that does a lot of little things on the ice that makes his linemates better and help his team,” noted Lakers’ head coach/general manager Wayne Strachan.
“This is a player that came into our team as a rookie, stepped right into the lineup, and contributed both offensively and defensively,” he lauded.
“We are very happy to have Ryan back and we look forward to seeing him in a couple months, especially since we hear that he is working hard to better himself for next season,” Strachan added.
Wildman joins fellow forwards Blake Boaz and Byron Katapaytuk as players the Lakers have re-signed from last year’s squad, which was eliminated in six games in the semi-finals by the Dryden Ice Dogs.
