Fort Frances Lakers’ fans now can mark their calendars for the squad’s first on-ice endeavours of the coming season.
The team released its five-game pre-season schedule today, which begins here Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m. against the Minnesota Iron Rangers.
The Lakers then will host the English River Miners one night later at 7:30 p.m. before hitting the road for their final three tune-ups.
They will be in Hoyt Lakes, Mn. on Sept. 9 to face the Rangers, then head to Marathon for a Sept. 11 match-up against the newly-renamed Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
The Lakers and Thunder Bay North Stars played a pre-season game in Marathon last year in what doubled as a tribute to former Laker Jaret Leclair and three other residents from Pic River First Nation who died in a multi-vehicle accident in October, 2012.
Fort Frances then will conclude its exhibition schedule with an afternoon game Sept. 14 in Ear Falls against the English River Miners.
The Lakers will open the regular season Sept. 19 at home against the North Stars.
