The SIJHL yesterday announced the rescheduling of last night’s game between the Fort Frances Lakers and visiting English River Miners.
It now will be held this Sunday (March 11) at 2:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
The cause of the postponement was issues with the Miners’ bus that prevented them from travelling to Fort Frances in time for the game.
Also yesterday, the SIJHL unveiled the schedule for the upcoming first-round quarter-final playoff series between the fourth-place Miners and fifth-place Lakers.
English River will host Games 1 and 2 at the Cochenour Arena, with the opener set for Wednesday, March 21.
The second game then goes the following night.
The series then will shift to the Ice for Kids Arena for Game 3 on Saturday, March 24.
Game 4, if necessary, would be held here on Monday, March 26.
Should the series end up going the distance, Game 5 is slated for Wednesday, March 28 back at the Cochenour Arena.
All games will start at 7:30 p.m.
The SIJHL’s other first-round playoff match-up will feature the third seed taking on the last-place Minnesota Iron Rangers in another best-of-five set.
That schedule will be announced once the third-place team is determined and the game dates are finalized.
The top two teams at the conclusion of regular-season play will earn first-round byes.
