Lakers’ game rescheduled, special event planned tonight

The SIJHL has announced that tonight’s scheduled pre-season game between the Red Lake Miners and Fort Frances Lakers at the Ice For Kids Arena has been postponed.
The cause of the postponement is due to a breakdown of the Miners’ team bus, thus preventing Red Lake from travelling to Fort Frances in time for the contest.
In order to still have an event this evening, the Lakers announced that they and the Muskie boys’ hockey team will combine to make two teams and will have a game at 7 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
Admission is $5 and there will be a skate with the two teams following the game for anyone interested.
This afternoon, meanwhile, the SIJHL announced that a make-up date for tonight’s postponed game between the Lakers and Miners will be this Sunday (Sept. 15) at the Ice For Kids Arena.
Warm-up will get underway at 4 p.m., with puck drop to follow at 4:30.
The Lakers will kick-off the SIJHL’s 19th regular season at home when they host the Thief River Falls Norskies next Friday (Sept. 20) at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
