Several Fort Frances Lakers were named to the teams that will compete in the SIJHL all-star game set for Nov. 29 at the Hippodrome in Eveleth, Mn.
The contest, which features a “Border Battle” format, will see the Canadian all-stars taking on the American all-stars.
The players for each team were selected based on their citizenship, as well as by their respective efforts over the first two-and-a-half months of the season through voting among each team.
Lakers suiting up for Team Canada include forwards Carter Chorney and Ian Tookenay, along with defencemen Connor Keith and Charlie Wilkie.
Those who will play for Team U.S.A. include forwards Nick Lucas and Jaedin Ness, defencemen Anthony Antonelli and Mark Richter, and goalie Rob Ivy.
Also selected to Team Canada were forwards Luke Bellerose, Jacen Bracko, and Evans Walls (Dryden GM Ice Dogs), Michael Di Lullo, Jared Janke, and Ethan Wong (English River Miners), and Keighan Gerrie, Alex Maticic, Avery Siau, and Brad Thrower (Thunder Bay North Stars).
Rounding out the defence will be Trevor Kavanaugh (Ice Dogs), Kyle Rosolowski (Miners), Connoe Bowey (Thief River Falls Norskies), and Joe Newhouse (North Stars).
Michael Lenko (Miners) and Brock Lefebvre (Norskies) will be the goalies.
Also selected to Team U.S.A. were forwards Eric Stout (Ice Dogs), Clayton Brown and Mark Sanchez (Minnesota Iron Rangers), and Michael Johnson, Johnny Bennis, Alec Daman, Parker Simonson, Cody Aarvig, Jared Pederesen, and Mitchel Soderberg (Norskies).
Rounding out the defence will be Cory Dennis and Tristan Knott (Ice Dogs), Sam Cirone (Miners), and Logan Jackson (Norskies).
The other goalie will be Tyler Thompson (Iron Rangers).
Coaching and support staffs for both sides will be announced in the coming days.
The all-star festivities also will feature a skills competition beginning at 5 p.m. (CT), with the game to start at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the game will be available at various outlets across the Iron Range, as well as from many youth hockey association groups.
