The Fort Frances Lakers partnered with Borderland Pride to host their first ever “Lakers Night Out” Pride Night last Friday during a game against the Thunder Bay North Stars. They also partnered to host a drag show after the game as part of the festivities featuring performers from both Fort Frances and Thunder Bay areas.

Molly Poppinz at Lakers night out on Friday. They were accompanied by FFHS SAGA members Timea Enge (left) and Christen Degagné.
Lakers Defenseman Darnell Kempf carries the puck into the North Stars end. Kempf was one of several Lakers and North Star players to spruce up their sticks with Pride Tape. The Lakers jumped out to an early lead but ultimately lost in overtime 5-4.
Local Drag Queen Pharoah Moans takes the stage at the Memorial Sports Complex Auditorium after the game. Proceeds from ticket, snack and drink sales were split between Borderland Pride and the Fort Frances Lakers.
From left, Lakers players Kyle Garland, Brandon Gustafson, Ian Snooks, Remington Richardson, Darnell Kempf, Caige Starr and Pierce Gouin (front) all took in the drag show after their hard fought game. Starr even helped the queens do some giveaways by strutting his stuff on the stage with some lucky audience members.
