Lady Raiders snag another victory


The Couchiching Lady Raiders continued their recent winning ways in Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League action Monday night.
Kam Singleton was solid on the rubber as she led the Lady Raiders to their third-straight win with a 14-4 romp over the Sabaskong Tebinaak.
Candy Kelly was tagged with the loss.
MVP honours went to Steph Legree (Lady Raiders) and Savannah Prince (Tebinaak).
Elsewhere, Trish Smith homered to pace the Northwest Bay Beavers to a 20-2 rout of the Manitou T-Birdies.
Darcy Smith picked the win while Summer Leonard was tagged with the loss.
The MVPs were Trish Smith (Beavers) and Kailee Kelly (T-Birdies).
The Fort Frances Her-ricanes downed the Emo Renegades 11-5, with Laureen Hill earning the win and Karma Andy taking the loss.
The MVPs were Dana Ward (Her-ricanes) and Janelle Andy (Renegades).
Jodie Hood had a strong pitching performance, meanwhile, to lead the Fort Frances Mud Dogs to a 12-0 win over the Fort Frances Angels.
Rylee Redford suffered the loss.
Heather Wright was named the MVP for the Mud Dogs while the Angels’ MVP was not known.
The Big Grassy Lynx forfeited their game against the Red Gut Babes while the Dawson Tigers had the bye Monday night.
Last Wednesday night’s games saw the Renegades roll to a 12-2 win against the T-Birdies.
Mykenzie Borger earned the win while Summer Leonard was tagged with the loss.
The MVPs were Borger (Renegades) and Kristi Medicine (T-Birdies).
The Beavers pulled out a 13-10 victory over the Mud Dogs, with Darcy Smith getting the win while Rachelle Yeo took the loss.
MVP honours went to Trish Smith (Beavers) and Shelby Tymkin (Mud Dogs).
Dawson, meanwhile, grinded out a narrow 9-7 win against the Tebinaak.
Shelby Nosan got the win while Candi Kelly suffered the loss.
The MVPs were Nosan (Tigers) and Lear Arch (Tebinaak).
Elsewhere, the Her-ricanes eked out a 5-4 victory against the Babes.
Marissa Kerry earned the win while Tracy Morningstar was tagged with the loss.
MVP honours went to Alyssa Windego (Babes) and Marissa Kerry (Her-ricanes).
The Angels at Big Grassy game was postponed. A make-up date has yet to be determined.
The Lady Raiders had the bye last Wednesday.
Tonight’s games, which all are 6:30 p.m. starts (weather permitting), will see the Angels battling the T-Birdies, the Her-ricanes travelling to Dawson, the Tebinaak tangling with the Babes, the Lady Raiders squaring off against the Renegades, and the Beavers visiting Big Grassy.
The Mud Dogs have the bye.
