Lady golfers hand out awards

Carol Livingston was the ladies’ club champion at Kitchen Creek this season, finishing ahead of Donna Lee, it was announced at last night’s wind-up banquet.
Carla Krawchuk was awarded the Green Cup while Ann Onichuk picked up the Olga Asplund Sr. Ladies Trophy, finishing ahead of Gerry Cousineau.
Christen Thomson, who made the Manitoba junior girls’ team and competed at the Canadian junior championships in Toronto, was named the top junior ladies’ golfer here.
Meanwhile, Rita Woodland placed first in the postal tournament ahead of Livingston.
Livingston, who won the hole-in-one and eagle pin, also placed first in the NCTC, ahead of Sharon Payne, while Judy McLeod placed first in the bronze division, ahead of Payne and Elsie Doucette (alternates were Sharon Angus and Marg Bagacki).
The Pro Ladies’ team, who competed with club pro Gord Workum in Winnipeg, included Lee, Woodland, and Tracey Lee. The local ladies also beat International Falls during inter-club play for the Robinson Trophy and bragging rights this year.
Club awards for the Eclectic Competition went to Linda Guimond, followed by Lolly Brunetta and Doucette. Woodland won the Ada McKenzie Award while the Reid Trophy for handicap reduction went to Kris Krag (19.44 percent).
Sandra Christianson was second (14 percent) and Laureen Hill third (13.79).
Birdie pins (two birdies required) were earned by Sharon Angus, Jennifer Ash, Laura Bruyere, Gerry Cousineau, Sharon DeBenedet, Barb Easton, Betty Fontana, Marie Gregory, Linda Guimond, Winnie Jackson, Carol Jorgenson, Carol Livingston, Chrissie Thomson, Maureen Thomson, and Rita Woodland).
The nine-hole ringer board went to:

•31-35 hdcp.–1. Joyce Flatt 2. Doucette; and
•36 and over–1. Sandra Gosselin 2. Jorgenson, Gregory, and Fran O’Connell.
The 18-hole ringer board went to:
•0-20 hdcp.–1. Livingston 2. Chrissie Thomson;
•21-30 hdcp.–1. Maureen Thomson 2. Dixie Badiuk; and
•31-40 hdcp.–1. Guimond 2. Payne.
