Another Fort Frances Laker from a season ago is returning to the fold.
It was announced yesterday that forward Kevin Kurm will be back for his second year with the local SIJHL squad.
“Kevin will be a key part of our team this season,” Lakers’ general manager and head coach Wayne Strachan said in a press release.
“He will play a big role up front, and the team is hoping he can build on his 2013 playoff run which saw him finish second in scoring for the Lakers,” Strachan added.
“Kevin is a fast forward who can find the net and we will need him to be firing on all cylinders to help our team’s success this year.”
The 18-year-old Kurm, who hails from Thunder Bay, registered 15 goals and 14 assists in 44 regular-season games last season to go along with 51 penalty minutes.
The Lakers opens their main training camp next Thursday (Aug. 29).
