The champs are still alive–barely.
The London Knights, whose roster includes Fort Frances resident Cole Tymkin, will live to play another round after rallying from a 3-1 series deficit against the Windsor Spitfires in the opening round of the OHL playoffs.
The defending Memorial Cup champs took Game 7 with a 3-2 triumph on Tuesday in London and now advance to face the high-powered Erie Otters in the best-of-seven Western Conference semi-finals.
Game 1 goes tonight in Erie, Pa.
Tymkin played in the first three games against Windsor before being scratched the last four.
The 17-year-old forward, last year’s SIJHL rookie-of-the-year with the Fort Frances Lakers, didn’t register a point in the series.
But he did get in a fight with Cristiano DiGiacinto in the Knights’ 5-2 win in Game 2 back on March 26 in Erie.
He also took a tripping penalty in London’s 3-1 loss in Game 3.
Tymkin was London’s fifth-round pick (91st overall) in the 2015 OHL draft.
