The Kiwanis team will have to try again tonight to repeat as the Major ‘B’ Little League champions.
The Fort Frances-based team struggled for five innings yesterday evening in the Falls as their rival Moose posted a spattering of small-ball runs—most of them on errant throws—before breaking the game wide open in the top of the sixth inning.
Trailing 12-0, Kiwanis rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth but that was how the score ended.
The Fort Frances boys, who went 6-5-1 during the regular season, had been undefeated so far in the playoffs, so they get a second crack at the championship.
That game will take place tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Rizzo Field in the Falls.
