KCs win pair of games

Andrew George scored the eventual game-winning goal in the second period to stake the local KC “AA” PeeWees to a 6-5 victory over the Atikokan Flyers in exhibition hockey action here Sunday.
The KCs jumped out to a 3-2 lead after the first period on goals by Marc Riordon, Scott Bridgeman, and Tyler Barker.
Tanner Kaemingh, Andrew Perrault and George then scored for a 6-3 lead after two.
Atikokan’s Steven Sus and Jared Wood scored third-period goals to pull to within one. Wood finished the game with three goals while Sus added a pair.
It was the KC’s second close win in the past few days as Shane Belluz netted the game-winning goal in the third period to lift his team to a 4-3 win over Lake of the Woods in Baudette last Friday.
Bryan Chambers and Jamie Davis drew the assists.
The teams were deadlocked at 2-2 after the first period. Matt Ramiller scored both goals for Lake of the Woods while Andrew Mueller and Barker replied for the KCs.
Jeremy Bell gave the KCs their first lead midway through the second period but Lake of the Woods knotted the game at 3-3 when Greg Beller scored.
