KCs take second at Fargo

The local KC “AA” Peewee hockey team finished with a 4-1 record to place second at a six-team tournament in Fargo, N.D. earlier this month.
Their only loss in the five-game round-robin was a 2-1 decision to the Fargo Raiders–this year’s North Dakota state champs.
Jamie Davis scored midway through the second period to give the KCs a brief 1-0 lead but Fargo’s Brock Cottrell tied the score just over two minutes later.
Cody Johnson then netted the game-winning goal midway through the final frame.
The KCs opened action with a 6-1 win over Crookston, Mn. Jeremy Bell led the way with two goals, with Bryan Chambers, Tyler Barker, Shane Belluz, and Davis tallying singles.
Next they cruised to a 9-2 victory over the Fargo Flyers. Davis had two goals and two assists in that one while Mike Niskala also netted a pair. Danny McIntyre, Scott Bridgeman, Belluz, Jeremy Bell, and Barker added singles.
The KCs had a much tougher time against the Bismarck Red Hawks, edging them 3-1. Andrew Mueller, Andrew George, and Davis all scored for the Fort squad.
The KCs then finished the round-robin with a 11-0 thumping over Minot-Devil’s Lake.
Niskala, Davis, Barker, and Bridgeman paced the team with two goals apiece while Andrew Perrault, MacIntyre, and Belluz had singles.
Mark Buist earned the shutout in goal.
The KCs next tournament action is this weekend in Winnipeg.
