KCs lose tourney final in OT

The local KC ‘AA’ PeeWees breezed through the field at a tournament in Sioux Lookout last weekend–often winning in lopsided fashion.
That is, until they reached the championship game.
The KCs fell just short of the tourney title, losing 2-1 in overtime to the Dryden Apollos, who avenged a 5-2 loss to the Fort Frances squad during round-robin action.
Blair Oversby netted the game-winner for Dryden with just 1:50 to go in the extra frame.
Jamie Davis gave the KCs the 1-0 lead with 4:50 left in the second but Dryden forced overtime when Joey Bell tallied in the third.
The KCs reached the final after downing the Norwest Stars 7-4 in the semi-finals. Tyler Barker led the way with two goals while Andrew Mueller, Andrew George, Scott Bridgeman, Shane Belluz, and Davis added singles.
They were the top seeds coming out of pool play after finishing with a 4-0 record–outscoring their opposition 22-9.
The KCs had opened action Friday afternoon with a 5-1 win over the Keewatin Wildcats, led by Mueller’s goal and two assists. Barker, George, Tanner Kaemingh, and Danny MacIntyre also tallied.
That night, the KCs skated to a 6-1 drubbing over the Norwest Stars on goals by Jeremy Bell, Mike Niskala, Kaemingh (who also had two assists), Bryan Chambers, Barker, and Mueller.
In their 5-2 win over the Apollos, MacIntyre, Belluz, Barker, Kaemingh, and Davis were the snipers.
The KCs then nipped the Sioux Hawks 6-5 on goals. MacIntyre scored twice en route to victory while Bridgeman, Mueller, Davis, and Niskala also tallied.
