Fort Frances Lakers’ forward Byron Katapaytuk was rewarded for his weekend efforts by being named the SIJHL’s Pizza Hut player-of-the-week for Nov. 21-27.
The 20-year-old Katapaytuk, who hails from Moose Factory, earned the accolade after scoring two goals and dishing out six assists in a pair of home wins.
On Friday night, Katapaytuk led the Lakers with a goal and four assists in a 9-2 triumph over the Iron Range Ironheads.
He then followed that up by scoring the go-ahead goal, and also recording a pair of helpers, in a 6-4 win over the Duluth Clydesdales on Saturday.
A third-year player for the Lakers, Katapaytuk joins rookie forward Jordan Larson and goalie Tyler Ampe as members of the squad who have earned player-of-the-week honours so far this season.
The Lakers return to action tomorrow as the Dryden Ice Dogs visit the Ice For Kids Arena for a 7:30 p.m. start.
