The Muskie junior girls’ basketball team opened their home tournament with a sound 30-19 win over St. Patrick’s (Thunder Bay) last night.
The black-and-gold held a commanding 15-4 lead at the half before a 13-point run by the visitors made things interesting in the third quarter.
But Fort High regained the momentum and outscored St. Patrick’s 9-2 in the final quarter to seal the victory.
Erika Moffitt had eight points to lead the Muskies.
Chelsea Audette and Adrian Gurski added six points each, with Chantal Jodoin and Mary Strain netting five apiece.
Jessica Mithrush led St. Patrick’s with a game-high 13 points, including nine in the third quarter alone.
The Muskies were set to host Superior at 1:30 p.m. today before wrapping up play tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. against Hammarskjold (Thunder Bay).
