Judoist opens with win

Jared Catholique-Bruyere’s quest for Winter Games gold is still alive.
The Couchiching judoist won his quarter-final match 10-0 over Prince Edward Island’s Patrick Knox this morning in the 81 kg+ division of men’s judo at the Canada Winter Games in Bathurst-Campbellton, N.B.
The outcome of his semi-final bout was unknown at press time.
A loss would put him in the final repechage state later this afternoon, where he still could qualify for the gold-medal final set for 3:15 p.m. (CST) today.
