A pair of local squash players missed out on medals in the girls’ U15 division at the Canadian Junior National Squash Championships in Calgary over the weekend.
But they still came away with solid showings.
Anika Alexander lost in the “silver” semi-finals to eventual winner Nada Kheiralla (Halifax) yesterday morning after rattling off three-straight victories over Jamie Nelson (Ottawa), Janel Gaube (Victoria), and Michelle Garceau (Surrey).
Alexander had won her opening-round “gold” contest over Laura Huck (Medicine Hat) on Thursday before dropping down to the “silver” grouping with a second-round loss to Tara Shannon (Calgary) that night.
Angel McCormack, meanwhile, was eliminated in the “silver” quarter-finals on Saturday afternoon by Shannon after posting victories over Gillian Chick (Calgary), Charlotte Copas (Toronto), and Mia Kirbyson (Winnipeg).
McCormack had dropped her opening “gold” match to Hannah Treleaven (Calgary) on Thursday.
