Jenks races to 10th-place finish

The doctor was in . . . a good running groove, that is.
Dr. Lorena Jenks of Fort Frances had the highest finish of any Rainy River District runner at the annual Fargo Marathon on Saturday in Fargo, N.D., coming in 10th out of 107 participants in the female age 55-59 category of the half-marathon division.
Jenks posted a time of 1:57:05 to rank the best out of the 20-member local contingent that made the trek to compete in four different distance events.
Megan Ross of Fort Frances was 20th out of 280 in the female age 40-44 group of the half-marathon (1:51:01).
Devlin’s Neila Booth (2:42:16) was 41st out of 75 in the female age 60-64 division.
Also cracking the top 100 was Sharla McKinnon of Fort Frances, who was 79th in the female age 40-44 group (2:03:47), and Tammy Kennett of Devlin, who wound up 98th out of 107 entrants in the female age 55-59 division (3:26:59).
Jordie and Sara Botsford of here crossed the finish line together and just missed breaking the two-hour barrier (2:00:06).
That put him 112th out of 200 in the male age 30-34 category she placed 115th out of 432 in the female age 25-29 division.
Heather Bridgeman of Fort Frances was 142nd out of 414 in the female 35-39 class (2:04:21) while Heidi Smith of Devlin was 277th in the female age 35-39 category.
Jillian Kellar of Fort Frances rounded out the local half-marathon results in 311th place in the female age 25-29 group (2:25:37).
Just two area runners took part in the full marathon.
Dale Allan of Emo finished 98th out of 102 in the female age 40-44 division (5:55:21) while Robin McCormick of Devlin was 15th out of 15 in the female age 60-64 division (6:55:14).
Both those runners, along with Kennett, also took part in the 5K event.
McCormick finished 122nd out of 183 in her age group (56:24) while Kennett was 170th out of 215 (56:23) and Allan was 297th out of 347 in her category (56:25).
And in the 10K division, which featured local runners from Fort Frances only, Connee Badiuk placed 12th out of 89 in the female age 55-59 category (1:01:16).
Nicole Turcotte motored her way to 29th out of 154 in the female age 45-49 group (1:02:39) while Beverley Thomson ranked 49th out of 89 in the female age 55-59 class (1:24:41).
Lori Durbin also was 49th out of 132 in the female age 50-54 group running alongside daughter, Lacey, who came in 127th out of 188 in the female age 20-24 category (both in 1:09:12).
Kim Roy persevered to take 85th in the female age 55-59 division (1:54:38), with Yenta Macklem also cracking the top 100 in the female age 40-44 category to finish 92nd out of 211 (1:07:57).
Heather Koski placed 176th in the female age 40-44 class (1:35:42).
Also hitting the pavement were two local runners in the Fire Fighters Ten-Mile Road Race on Monday.
Morningstar Tom from Morson was 21st out of 38 starters in the female age 30-34 division (1:34:59).
Jim Windego from Rainy River, meanwhile, was 21st out of 21 in the male age 50-54 category (2:04:32).
