Just call her Maggie the Magnificent.
Maggie Jean set a new one-game scoring record with seven goals to help the Boston Pizza Ball Blasters to a 15-2 romp over the U15 Borderland Lightning in Borderland Women’s Indoor Soccer action last night.
Jean now has a league-high 11 goals in only three games for the Ball Blasters (2-1).
It was so good a performance, it overshadowed a fantastic night by Sydney Radigan, who netted four goals to help the cause.
Mary Waghorn notched her first two goals of the season while Rebecca Selman and Tara MacEachern added singles.
Cassidy Roach and Samara Payne scored for the Lightning (1-2), who won’t have to worry about such one-sided outcomes in future games.
It was decided after last night’s action that a five-goal mercy rule would be implemented for the rest of the season for all teams.
Meanwhile, the Main Street Mayhem (2-0-1) remained alone in first place after edging the Wright Physiotherapy Rockettes (0-2-1) by a 4-3 margin.
Reigning league goal-scoring champ Jaymee Fiset tallied all four Mayhem goals.
Heather Wright notched her first two goals of the season for the Rockettes while Suzie Sonnasinh added her first.
The Mayhem and Ball Blasters face off next Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Fort High, followed by the Rockettes and Lightning at 8:15 p.m.
