ITS suffers first loss of season


Manitou Forest Products went to their go-to guy and he delivered yet again.
Reigning league scoring champ Ahamadou Idrissou connected for the lone goal as Manitou blanked International Travel Services 1-0 in Borderland Soccer League men’s division action Tuesday night.
James Pavier earn the shutout for Manitou (5-1-1), which handed ITS (3-1-2) its first loss of the season.
Lucas Koomans and Kurt McGuire split the goalkeeping duties for ITS.
In the evening’s other game, Kevin Metke netted the lone marker as the La Place Rendez-Vous U18 Voyageurs nipped Pharmasave 1-0.
Justin Angus earned the shutout for the third-place Voyageurs (3-3) while Josh Bye took the loss for Pharmasave (0-6-1).
Men’s action resumes tonight at 7 p.m. when Manitou faces the Vous while ITS battles Pharmasave.
In women’s division play from Monday, the La Place Rendez-Vous U18 Voyageurs romped to a 9-1 win over Al’s Racquet Stringing.
Taylor Croswell and Angel McCormack led the way with a pair of goals for the first-place Vous (6-0).
Maggie Jean, Alyssa Faragher, Claire Hyatt, and Myla Angus added singles (their other tally was an own goal by Al’s).
Bryanna Dustin got the win in net.
Claire Crichton had the only goal for Al’s (2-4-2), with Phyllis Pierson taking the loss in goal.
Meanwhile, Jess Caul and Courtney Roach each fired two goals to help Taggs beat Boston Pizza 5-1.
Sara Roach had the other marker for Taggs (3-2-1) while also getting co-credit for the win in goal after sharing duties with Jess Badiuk.
Jodi Easton netted the goal for Boston Pizza (0-6-1), with Amy Wilson-Hands taking the loss in goal.
There were no games in the women’s division last night due to the Canada Day holiday.
The women will clash again this Monday at 7 p.m., featuring the same two matchups from this past Monday.
