An Illinois man was fined $2,000 for having too many walleye in his possession.
Andrew Coates, of Frankfort, pleaded guilty to having 13 walleye over the legal limit.
Court heard that on July 24, a conservation officer was performing a routine inspection on Little Pine Lake near Highway 71.
Coates had a legal limit of walleye on his boat, but further investigation revealed he had more fish frozen at his camp.
Justice of the Peace Pat Clysdale-Cornell heard the case Oct. 14 in Fort Frances.
The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds anglers that an individual may not have more fish than the possession limit of that species.
Possession includes storing fish at home or other locations, as well as transporting them and holding them in live wells.
