After a season that’s felt like one big lump of coal, I’d Hit That will enjoy plenty of Christmas cheer after its best night of the campaign.
The last-place squad in the Fort Frances Women’s Volleyball League, which earned its first two points of the season the previous week, shocked its opponents last Thursday by garnering all six points in their two matches.
I’d Hit That now has eight points in all to move within three points of escaping the cellar.
Sloppy Sets, which was blanked last week, sits in 11th place (11).
League-leading One Hit Wonders (66), second-place Kiss My Pass (50), and defending champs Scared Hitless (45) all had the night off last week.
That meant the time was right for other teams to close the gap on the front-runners.
No Diggity took the most advantage, also pocketing six points to move into third place with 47.
Gillons’ Northerners nabbed all six points, as well, to slide into a fifth-place tie with Spiked Punch (41).
Bump it Up was blanked to remain in seventh (37) while Let’s Talk About Sets stayed in eighth (35).
Rockstars, who also didn’t play last week, held onto ninth (23) after Wild Sets was whitewashed to remain in 10th (22).
The league will resume action Jan. 8 at Fort High and St. Michael’s.
