The Dynamic Homes Hurricanes beat a warpath through Warroad on the weekend, but there was a brief detour on their journey to gold and they had to settle for silver instead.
The local Atom girls’ competitive team opened play with a 13-0 romp over the host Warriors on Friday night.
Leading the way were Annalise “C.C.” Hayes with six goals and three assists while Madison Morrison added two goals and an assist.
Siobhan MacKintosh chipped in a goal and an assist, with Maighyn Degagne, Taylor Croswell, Kelsey Langtry, and Avery Cates also scoring.
Sydney Beck earned the shutout in net.
Then Saturday saw the Hurricanes start their day with a 4-2 win against Roseau (White).
Hayes notched a hat trick in that one while Croswell netted the other goal.
Kamryn Sandelovich was solid between the pipes.
But Roseau (Green) proved a tougher challenge for the Hurricanes, skating away with a 7-2 win that afternoon.
Hayes scored both goals while Beck was back in the net.
The Hurricanes then wrapped up the weekend on a winning note, downing the Grand Forks Angels in an 8-5 shootout.
Hayes again was the top sniper, netting four goals and two assists.
Morrison added a goal and three assists while Kelsey Langtry posted a goal and two helpers.
Croswell and Jenna Clendenning rounded out the scoring, with Sandelovich earned the win in goal after stopping 18 of the 23 shots fired her way.
