A Fort Frances man has been fined $2,500 for shooting a moose without the proper licence.
John Piotrowski pleaded guilty to unlawfully hunting a cow moose.
In addition to the fine, Piotrowski is banned from hunting in Ontario for one year.
Court heard that on Oct. 14, Piotrowski shot and killed a cow moose, for which he did not have a seal, in the Cedar Narrows area north of Fort Frances.
Further investigation by a Ministry of Natural Resources’ conservation officer revealed that Piotrowski had attached a calf tag to the adult moose, which also is contrary to Ontario hunting regulations.
Justice of the Pat Clysdale-Cornell heard the case Feb. 10 in Fort Frances.
