Horgan rink in tie for second

Staff

The Tracy Horgan rink from Sudbury, which includes Devlin native Jenna Enge at second, looks to be in good shape to make the playoffs at the Ontario Scotties in Kenora.
Horgan sits at 5-2 going into the final two draws of the round-robin today, which has her deadlocked with Cathy Auld (Mississauga) for second place in the 10-team field.
Defending provincial champ Rachel Homan (Ottawa) already has clinched the top seed for the playoffs with an unblemished 7-0 mark heading into today’s action.
Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay) and Sherry Middaugh (Coldwater) are tied for the fourth and final playoff spot at 4-3, with Kathy Brown (Schomberg) and Marlo Dahl (Thunder Bay) still having a chance to sneak into the playoffs at 3-4.
The Horgan foursome had a successful day yesterday against the two Thunder Bay rinks, hammering McCarville 9-3 in eight ends in the afternoon draw before edging Dahl 7-6 last night.
Horgan will wrap up round-robin play with games against Brown this afternoon and then the 2-5 Alison Nimik rink (St. Thomas) tonight.
Under the Page playoff format, the 1 vs. 2 game is slated for tomorrow at 2 p.m. (barring tie-breakers), with the 3 vs. 4 game at 7 p.m.
The semi-final will go Sunday at 9:30 a.m., followed by the final at 2 p.m.
