Spikers struggle with pair of losses
The Muskie senior boys’ basketball team picked up right where they left off at their home tournament over the weekend, claiming a 56-48 victory over the host Dryden Eagles in NorWOSSA action yesterday.
Fort High led by as much as 17 points at halftime, but the Eagles made a game of it down the stretch.
The Muskies (2-0) got 17 points from Garnet Cornell, 14 from Travis Stromness, and seven from Kurt Hill. Anders Ryan and Caleb Eshbach each netted 11 for Dryden.
Meanwhile, the Muskie junior boys also improved to 2-0 with a 51-37 win yesterday in Dryden.
It was a different story on the volleyball court, however, as both Muskie girls’ teams fell to 1-1 on the season after losses yesterday to the host Eagles.
The seniors were swept in their best-of-five match by scores of 25-12, 25-17, and 25-10.
The juniors fared a little better, taking the first set 25-10 but then losing the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-19.
