Hoops title hinges on final game

There is a tie once again for top spot in the local men’s basketball standings after Boston Pizza dumped Taggs 80-58 last night at Fort High.
Rob McGinnis led Boston Pizza with 23 points while Morgan Anderson had 10 for Taggs.
Both teams have identical 9-4 marks to lead the four-team loop heading into the regular-season finale slated for March 23 (the league is taking a week off due to March Break).
If Boston Pizza beats the Muskies that night, they would clinch first place and be the top seed heading into the playoffs.
If the Muskies win, however, and Taggs beat the Rendez-Vous, it will be Taggs that captures the regular-season crown.
If both teams win or lose their respective finales, Boston Pizza would take the tie-breaker by virtue of having won three of the five regular-season meetings between the two squads.
Meanwhile, in the other game last night, the Muskies drubbed the Vous 101-64—the first time this season that a team cracked the century mark in points.
Caleb McIntosh led the Muskies, who have wrapped up third place with a 7-6 mark, with 31 points.
Chris Wiedenhoeft netted 19 in a losing cause for the Vous, who sit in the league basement at 1-12.
