Fort Frances High School students in Robert Guertin’s Grade 11 and 12 Manufacturing classes, and Christine Jean’s Kinesiology class, recently learned about high-tech innovations while taking part in a knee replacement demonstration.
“The purpose of the session is to connect our students to the work world, and not just basic machining and welding but the high-tech innovations, too,” said Guertin.
“There isn’t much higher tech than replacing body parts with mechanical parts,” he added.
The session was led by Wayne Forsey of Zimmer Biomet Canada, who works in operating rooms with surgeons and nurses to help in procedures.
This is the second year he has visited Fort High to share his knowledge with the students.
