If a local Facebook group has its way, the Stanley Cup will be coming to Fort Frances—if the Chicago Blackhawks win it, that is.
The group, “If Duncan Keith Wins The Cup, Bring It To Fort Frances,” had 443 members as of this morning.
Born in Winnipeg, the Blackhawks’ defenceman got his start in minor hockey here before moving to Penticton, B.C. at age 14.
Chicago can clinch its first Stanley Cup since 1961 with a victory over the host Philadelphia Flyers in Game 6 on Wednesday night.
Each player on the winning team gets a day with the trophy, which often involves a community celebration.
Neither Penticton nor Winnipeg had groups asking Keith to bring the Cup to either of those communities.
