The Fort Frances Green’s Countrywide Predators tamed the Fort Frances Lions 4-2 as they took the title of a PeeWee ‘A’ tournament in Emo over the weekend.
Green’s rebounded from a 3-2 loss to the Emo Thunderbolts in the opener to reel off four-straight wins to capture the championship.
In the final, Matt Cheetham took charge early, tallying at 1:01 of the first and 5:31 of the second to put Green’s ahead 2-0.
Alex Gustafson followed up at 7:36 of the third to make it 3-0, but the Lions still had some fight in them.
Brendon Johnson hit the twine at 6:25 to pull the Lions to within two, but Jacob Bolzan helped Green’s regain the three-goal cushion at 3:20.
Johnson found the net again 1:16 after Bolzan’s tally, but that was all the offence the Lions could muster.
