Golfers ace course

Kitchen Creek also saw another record broken this season–aces.
Eight different golfers recorded holes-in-one at the local course, including six on the par-three seventh. The other two aces came at #11 and #13 (also par-threes).
“As far as I know, it’s a club record,” local pro Gord Workum said yesterday. “It’s definitely been the most since I’ve been here.”
Workum admitted an increase in rounds played usually translates into more aces being recorded.
“Number seven is a popular hole, especially for the ladies, because it’s a short hole just over the creek, and if you notice most people used either a nine-iron or a wedge,” he noted.
This season, #7 was just 75 yards from tee to green for the ladies and 143 yards for the men. But with the new tee box being built there for next season, Workum said golfers may want to use a different club.
The ladies’ yardage will be in the 110-120 yard range while the men will be hitting from about 150 yards away.
Golfers who recorded aces at Kitchen Creek this season were:

•Stuart McIvor–#7 with an eight-iron (June 21);
•Gord Lee–#7 with a nine-iron (July 2);
•Cory Langner–#7 with an eight-iron (July 7);
•George Ostermeier–#7 with a nine-iron (July 17);
•Bob Kennedy–#11 with a pitching wedge (Sept. 3);
•Kris Krag–#7 with a pitching wedge (Sept. 5); and
•Donna Lee–#7 with a pitching wedge (Oct. 3).
