The pair of Minnesota anglers won the 18th-annual Kenora Bass International—a three-day tournament on Lake of the Woods that wrapped up on Saturday.
John Liestman and David Heitke of Paynesville netted the $30,000 first prize after hauling in a total weight of 50.65 pounds.
Bill Godin of Devlin and Norm Lindsay from Sioux Narrows were the top local duo in the 150-team field with a 17th-place finish (38.47 pounds).
They had claimed second place at last month’s Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship after a fourth-place showing here last year.
The Devlin duo of Dale LaBelle and Jody Shypit wound up in 36th place with 35.03 pounds while Rodney Halliday (Fort Frances) and Paul Jewiss (Devlin) garnered a 82nd-place showing with 28.11 pounds.
Andrew Rogozinski and Andrew Perrault, both of Fort Frances, finished in 103rd place with 24.50 pounds, with Steve Ballan (Fort Frances) and Doug McBride (Devlin) coming in 109th with 23.26 pounds.
Greg and James Asplund, both of Fort Frances, racked up 14.25 pounds to finish in 132nd place.
