Girls’ teams face off in Kenora tourney

The Fort Frances Pollard Logging Novice girls’ hockey team finished with a 1-2 record at the fifth-annual Lake of the Woods tournament in Kenora over the weekend.
Pollard Logging won their final game of the tournament Saturday night, downing Dryden 3-1. Courtney Caldwell led the way with a pair of goals while Carly Holt tallied the other one.
The team earlier had lost 2-1 to C.J. Edwards & Son and 8-3 to Lake of the Woods. Caldwell scored all four goals.
In PeeWee action, Skates & Blades finished with an 0-3 record, losing 9-1 to St. Boniface, 15-0 to Kenora Esso, and 12-1 to Kenora Legion
Krystine Marchuk and Kristen Friesen were the Skates & Blades goal scorers.
Meanwhile, the Fort Frances D & A Construction Juvenile team also lost all three of their games on the weekend, dropping 4-3 and 4-0 decisions to Kenora and then getting shutout 6-0 by St. Boniface.
Scoring for the Fort were Jen Caul, Erin McIvor, and Shannon Koval.
