The past week in the Fort Frances Girls’/Women’s Hockey Association featured both tight battles and convincing routs.
Marti Woods notched a pair of goals to lead the BDO Canada Stars to a 3-2 victory over Kaemingh Esso in PeeWee action last Thursday.
Makenna Hill had the other marker for the Stars while Abby Roach and Sam Kelly replied for Kaemingh.
A trip to Emo on Friday was nearly a trio of triumphs for Fort teams.
Addy Chown posted a hat trick to help the Fort Frances Novice Bruins to a 5-2 win over the Emo Express.
Ophelia Lucas-Engberg and Taryn Oster added singles (the Express goal scorers were unavailable as of press time).
Meanwhile, the Fort Frances AtoMc Icebergs blanked the Atom Express 5-0.
Piper Miller netted a pair of goals while Courtney McCoy, Emma Bodnarchuk, and Kassidy Gurniak also scored.
The Stars then tried to make it three Fort wins for the day but were held to a 1-1 tie with the PeeWee Express.
Hill had BDO’s lone goal.
Payten Tuesday and Savannah McGinnis bulged the twine for Fort Frances PeeWee Esso on Monday, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 3-2 to the Emo Express.
Goal scorers for Emo were unavailable at press time.
Marlee Bliss, meanwhile, notched a hat trick Tuesday to lead the Bruins to a 7-1 victory over the Fort Frances Lions.
Chown added a pair while Davilyn Miller and Lucas-Engberg each netted singles.
Marissa Kenny had the lone goal for the Lions.
