Girls’ hockey tourneys set

It will be a busy weekend at the Memorial Sports Centre as local Midget and Bantam girls’ hockey teams compete in their home tournaments.
In Bantam action, the Pinewood Blades, BDO Dunwoody, and Energy Fitness Wild will compete against two teams from Dryden, one from Kenora, and one from Nipigon in two pools of four teams each.
The puck dropped today at 1:15 p.m. when the Blades hosted the Ken Barbarians (Kenora) in the ’52 Canadians Arena while the Wild hosted the Hillcrest Hotshots (Dryden) at 1:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
In the Midget division, Fort Frances’ lone representative, the Pharmasave Wildcats, will square off against two teams from Thunder Bay and two from Dryden in a five-team format.
The Wildcats’ first game was scheduled for 3:45 p.m. today versus the Thunder Bay Maroons at the ’52 Canadians Arena.
