A whirlwind of excitement was apparent during recent action in the Fort Frances Girls’/Women’s Hockey Association.
Savannah McGinnis had a hat trick to lead the Fort Frances Atom Calder Legal Eagles to a 5-2 win over the Emo Express on Jan. 13.
Kianna Antonick and Kayleigh Walton added singles while Paige Yerxa and Taryn McQuaker scored for Emo.
That same night, the Fort Frances Bantam Lakewood Tire Eagles nipped Fort Frances Super 8 4-3.
Nadia Webb, Lillie MacKinnon, Kelsey Langtry, and Bryanna Dustin tallied for the Eagles.
Kamryn Singleton, Madison Morrison, and Hailey Tucker replied for Super 8.
Super 8 dropped a 5-1 decision to the Emo Express on Jan. 14, with Makenna Henttonen netting the lone goal (goal scorers for the Express were not available).
Another Bantam game that day saw Fort Frances M&M Meats blank Lakewood Tire 3-0.
Emily Kaun, Alex Gartzke, and Siobhan Mackintosh were the goal scorers while Ziggy Skead earned the shutout.
In Novice action Jan. 15, Julia Guertin’s four-goal outburst powered the Fort Frances Novice Lions Club to a 5-1 win over Fort Frances Tim Hortons.
Logan McPherson had the other goal for the Lions while Marlee Bliss had the lone tally for Tim Hortons.
Atom action that evening saw the Eagles edge the Fort Frances Times Tigers 4-3 (goal scorers not available).
Also that night, the Fort Frances Bantam ‘AA’ Leafs defeated the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears 5-1.
Langtry led the way with a pair of goals while Maighyn DeGagne, Mackintosh, and Morrison added singles.
On Sunday, the Fort Frances PeeWee BDO Canada Stars battled the Emo Express to a 2-2 tie.
Kassidy McDonald and Shallin Scott tallied for the Stars while Teagan Friesen and Mikaela Faragher notched Emo’s goals.
Tuesday saw M&M Meats again get the better of Lakewood Tire in a 3-1 triumph.
Taylor Steinke, Gartzke, and Mackintosh scored for the victors while Langtry netted the Eagles’ lone goal.
M&M Meats kept its roll going Wednesday as they blew past Super 8 7-3.
Gartzke had a hat trick, Hannah LeDrew added two goals, while Mackintosh and Kaun had one apiece.
Morrison, Carlee Rae Beazley, and Tucker replied for Super 8.
Then yesterday, Tim Hortons routed the Emo Express 10-0 in Novice action.
Piper Miller had a game-high four goals while Emma Bodnarchuk and Kiera Fairnington each tallied twice.
Davilyn Miller and Blaire Cross added singles.
Madison Bliss recorded the shutout.
