Gamsby fights to gold in Winnipeg

Kendall Gamsby led a strong contingent of local competitors at the Taekwondo CY ‘99 Can-Am games in Winnipeg on Saturday, capturing the gold medal in the yellow belt division in full-contact fighting.
Other top local competitors in the full-contact included: Corey Fehr winning the silver (yellow belt), Aubrie Byrne bronze (green belt), Timo Brielmann bronze (green belt), and Ricki-Lee Anderson bronze (yellow belt).
Joey Theriault (yellow belt), Kevin Wiersema (blue stripe), Matthew Morrison (blue belt), and Kevin Tysz (black stripe) also competed at the one-day tournament.
The event attracted a large number of competitors who came from Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Minnesota.
Local instructor Ken Anderson said he was pleased with all of his students’ results against a tough field of competitors.
